Asahi Japan Lotus 49 Ford F-1 Formula Racing Car Battery Tin Toy Boxed Rare
This is the rare Lotus Ford 49 Formula 1 racing car by Asahi / Junior Toys, made in Japan in the 1960s or 70s and complete with the original box. The model is in a huge 1/10 scale, measuring nearly 17 inches long. It has a two-speed engine with roaring sound, light-up engine compartment and two-speed gears. This is controlled by a gear-handle at the side of the engine with neutral, low and high positions.
There is also a standard on/off switch. The steerable front wheels can be positioned by hand. The model is in excellent condition with a few small marks and a little wear to the wheel rims. The battery door is intact, along with the battery terminals no corrosion and all the internal hardware present.
It has not been tested but I see no cosmetic reason why the mechanisms would not work or could not be persuaded to do so with some recommissioning. It has a removable plastic dust cover for the air intakes on top of the engine which is still intact Super Rare as these are normally missing! This beauty was acquired from a long time Vintage Toy Collector!
